MSGCU’s Online Banking: Sending funds to friends or family After you’ve logged in, select Send Money from the menu. Enter the amount you’d like you send. Then enter the name of the person you want to pay. You can also select the individual’s name from the dropdown if you’ve paid them before. Add their phone number or email address, if needed. You can also add a memo if you’d like. The recipient will see this message. For added security, you will create a secret word or phrase to share with your payee. They will need to enter this when collecting their payment. You’ll also need to enter a one-time PIN to complete the transaction. Don’t forget to tell the recipient the secret word or phrase. They can’t collect their payment without it. To collect the money, your recipient will simply follow the link in the text or email. No signup is needed. They will first input the secret word or phrase you choose when setting up the payment. They can receive your payment via a debit card or checking account. A debit card is default, which is also the fastest way to receive funds. Or they can use their checking account by selecting the link above the terms and service agreement. They have 10 days to claim their payment. After that, it will automatically be cancelled and the funds will be returned to your MSGCU Checking account. It can take up to one to two business days for the payment to process in their account once they’ve claimed it. You’ll see the funds deducted from your account even sooner – sometimes even same day. If you forgot the secret phrase or you need to cancel a payment, both are easy to do. Log in to online banking and select Send Money from the menu. Select View Payments, and then the specific transaction. The secret word or phrase will be displayed with the rest of your payment details. You can cancel a payment if your recipient has not yet claimed the money by selecting the button titled cancel this payment. As always, we’re here to help.
